St. Louis School proud to be recognized as a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!
Principal Terry Weiss comments on being named a 2017 Blue Ribbon School
“It is a great day at St. Louis School today! We are very excited to share that St. Louis School was named a National Blue Ribbon School for the second time by the U.S. Department of Education earlier today. This designation is the highest academic honor bestowed upon a school by the U.S. Department of Education.
The Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high school that are either academically superior or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement to high levels. Our school, along with 341 others, will be honored at a ceremony in Washington, DC on November 7th, and will receive a plaque and flag signifying our status.
I am extremely proud that our school has been named a Blue Ribbon School for the second time by the United States Department of Education. I have to say that it is even sweeter than the first time. It is a testament to the quality of our faculty and staff, to the hard work and creative effort of our students, the generous support of our parents, and the dedicated leadership of our pastor, Monsignor Luca. It is extremely gratifying to have the commitment and dedication of our entire school community recognized. We are honored to be selected again and will continue to strive for excellence.”
2010 Blue Ribbon Reflections by Mrs. Weiss
It was with surpassing joy and enthusiasm that I, along with administrators and representatives from schools across the nation, gathered to be recognized by the national academic community for realizing in our schools the very purpose for which we exist. The experience filled me with a sense of overwhelming gratitude for the dedicated efforts of so many in our community who contribute so much to our school. It filled me with a sense of tremendous accomplishment that the national academic community would recognize our efforts on behalf of our students and identify them as deserving of such national recognition. It filled me with a sense of pride in the work of our students for whom our school exists. And lastly, it filled me with a sense of awe in the God who makes everything we do possible. It was one of the truly great moments of my life, a moment of great excitement, accomplishment, and emotion, to represent the St. Louis School community and to accept on behalf of the entire community the title of Blue Ribbon School of Excellence bestowed upon us in recognition of what we do each day in these classrooms and hallways and of who we are as a community of faith, knowledge, and service.
