Readiness for First Holy Communion

Physical/Psychological Readiness
The Child is: 

  • Willing to receive the sacrament.
  • Able to participate attentively in the liturgy.

Catechetical Readiness
The Child is: 

  • Able to understand Church affiliation.
  • Able to relate to Jesus as one who loves and cares for us.
  • Able to distinguish between ordinary bread and the Eucharist.

Liturgical Readiness
The Child is: 

  • Attending the Eucharistic liturgy regularly (Mass).
  • Able to participate in the Eucharistic celebration (Mass).
