Every Great Speech Deserves a Great Podium!

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, Mrs. Anacker’s and Mrs. Johnson’s Second Grade students used geometry, measurement, and creativity to design and build a three-dimensional podium for the famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Students were organized into groups of three or four and challenged to create a sturdy, rectangular prism podium using just card stock, straws, two feet of blue tape and a cardboard cutout of MLK. The group with the best podium design won the challenge and recited the speech using their design. The students were engaged, worked well together and had a great time! #STEMatSLS
