Today is World Down Syndrome Day – a day to celebrate and bring awareness to those with Down’s syndrome and their right to have the same opportunities as everyone else, in every area of life. We were thrilled to begin our own Louis IX Program several years ago to welcome siblings of our current students who are affected by Down’s syndrome. To say their presence has been a blessing to us all is an absolute understatement! We were recently honored by Catholic Coalition for Special Education (CCSE) as a trailblazing school for our commitment to welcome students with Down Syndrome, but all the thanks goes to them for their help and guidance along the way. We are so grateful to CCSE and our entire school community – our students, teachers, and families – for supporting this effort and welcoming our students with open arms.
