Faith Formation Options for 2023 - 2024

St. Louis Faith Formation offers several options to help meet the needs of our families. Below are the opportunities for spiritual formation at St. Louis Catholic Parish:

Grades K-5

Saturday Faith Formation

Time: 9:00am to 10:30am

This option offers a traditional classroom setting for students and mandatory monthly parent formation classes for the parents while students are in class. Catechists and Assistants will teach our Catholic faith using Our Sunday Visitor's Alive in Christ, prayer experiences, music, crafts and many other fun activities. The clergy and the Faith Formation staff will provide formation for parents with the goal of fostering a strong family spiritual life. Copies of all faith formation texts and resources are available for parent review in the Faith Formation Office.

Family Faith Formation (At-Home Instruction)

Time: at-home and monthly family formation Sunday from 10:00am to 2:00pm

This option combines home-based catechesis with monthly family formation. Students registered in this option work through Our Sunday Visitor's, "Alive in Christ" textbook at home. Families will attend monthly family formation one Sunday each month to review monthly activities, foster community, and share faith. The monthly family formation includes large and small group sessions, prayer, 11am Mass, lunch, and guided family conversations.

SPRED (Special Religious Education)

Time: 9:00am to 10:30am

SPRED, or Special Religious Education, is for children with developmental disabilities. The Catechist in this class has a degree in Special Education and uses prayer experiences, music, crafts, and specialized learning techniques to enhance the faith formation and sacramental preparation of children with special needs.

Grades 6-12

Monday Night Faith Formation

Time: 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Open to 6th through 12th grade students with the goal of understanding Catholic Christianity and becoming fully alive in Christ. The program meets every Monday evening, except holidays. This option includes classes, guest speakers, and Family Life/Theology of the Body lessons given by youth ministers. Monday Nights include middle-school and high-school evening retreats, reconciliation and Holy Hour, Mass with a teaching component. High-school age students get to choose electives in the Spring combining their faith and interests. Makeup work will be assigned for absences.

Ablaze Family Formation (Once a Month)

Time: at-home and monthly family formation from 10:00am to 2:00pm

Open to 6th to 12th grade students and their parents with the goal of encountering the Lord through Beauty, Truth and Goodness. Each family will receive a guide to self-directed family activities throughout each month. All families come together one Sunday each month to review monthly activities, foster community and share faith. The program includes large and small group sessions, prayer, 11am Mass, lunch, and guided family conversations.
