“You have a home at St. Louis!”

College Alumni Ministry is a group of parishioners who are dedicated to ministering to our parish’s college-aged young adults. The 2015-2016 school year has begun. The next time we will be taking new members is in the Spring of 2016 for the 2016-2017 school year. Please read below for more details and feel free to contact Luisa Palting if you have any questions.

This year for CAM:

  • View the Suggested Care Package Schedule
  • October 18, 2-3pm, Care Package Assembly
  • January 6, 5-6pm Dinner at the Shrine of St. Anthony with College Students, followed by Taize Adoration in the St. Louis Chapel from 7-8pm

CAM has three components:

1.) Homecoming Weekend

At the beginning of the summer, CAM hosts a tent outside of the the Masses where college-aged young adults can register with College Ministry and receive calendars with the upcoming summer events.

Different roles include: setting up and decorating the tent outside of Mass, signing up to be stationed at the tent after Masses to distribute calendars and promote registration, baking goods to distribute after Masses, cleaning up the tent.

2.) Send Off Weekend

At the end of summer, CAM hosts a Send Off Potluck after the Send Off Blessing for college students at the 9:30AM Mass. At the potluck, alumni members and students are seated together based on their affiliation (Affiliation refers to which school or military branch they are related to. Of course, those with no school or military affiliation are grouped together as well.) They are able to enjoy a good meal and get to know one another!

Different roles include: Setting up tables and chairs in the Social Hall, decorating for the meal, signing in young adults and alumni as they arrive for lunch, coordinating the pot luck lunch, contributing items to the pot luck lunch, attending the lunch and sitting with the college-aged young adults.

3.) Prayer Commitments

Each member of the College Alumni Ministry has been assigned one student in the College Ministry to pray for throughout the school year. This is the most important part of the ministry- remembering the young adults in our prayers as they work to keep their faith strong, live a Christian lifestyle, do well in school, and build healthy relationships!

CAM members are encouraged to send notes, holiday cards, and care packages at least once a semester through the CYM Office.
