The St. Louis Choir is Recruiting! - A Few Good Men (and Women!) Needed

The St. Louis Choir seeks enthusiastic, spirit-filled singers to enhance our ranks at masses on Sundays at 11:15am.

Candidates should have the ability to carry a tune, in a bucket or otherwise. The ability to read music is admirable but not required. This part-time position runs September through June, with an option of unlimited renewal. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7:30-9:00pm.

Founded in 1976, the Saint Louis Choir sings a wide range of material spanning 2,000 years of sacred music, including Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, American Spirituals and more. Our sprawling headquarters is surrounded by walking trails, ample parking, and dozens of varieties of flowering perennials.

Choir members qualify for multiple benefits, including cushioned seating and invitations to choir picnics. Applicants may also inquire about the Eternal Heavenly Reward.

Mass Settings
Changing up settings of the Ordinaries of the Mass from time to time heightens our awareness of texts we sing each week.The Music Ministry will introduce a simple setting of the Gloria during Ordinary Time. Resources and Planning for the Music Ministry

The St. Louis Choir - The men and women of the St. Louis Choir enjoy singing a varied repertoire, drawn from the treasury of sacred music of the Catholic Church.  The St. Louis Choir sings at the 11:15am Mass each Sunday from September through June as well as Christmas, Triduum and Easter liturgies.  Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 8:00-9:30pm.  New members are always welcome.  Contact the Director of Music at the Parish Office for more information.Treble Choir - The St. Louis Treble Choir is comprised of children in the first through twelfth grade who desire a focused approach to reading music, vocalism, and the cantor ministry. The Treble Choir ministers at the 4:00pm Children’s Mass on the first Saturday of each month, September through May, and is regularly featured on the St. Louis Concert Series and in special liturgies throughout the year. Contact the Director of Music at the Parish Office for more information.Folk Group - The Folk Group consists of men, women, boys and girls who sing or play guitar and wish to praise God by using their musical gifts in service at the liturgy.  Other musical instruments (trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, drum, flute, piano, and oboe) are also welcome.  The Folk Group ministers weekly on Sunday morning at the 9:30am Mass; group prayer and rehearsal follow the Mass.  For more information, call Leo Rudegeair, Director of the Folk Group, at 410-531-6314.

St. Louis Church Concert Series - The St. Louis Church Concert Series began in 2006 with the completion of the new church building and seeks to bring professional-level concerts to the community. The Concert Series is sustained solely through the generosity of its patrons; each concert is presented without tickets or admission fee. The Good News - The Good News is open to high school students, grades 9 through 12, and provides music for the 9:30am Youth Mass on the fourth Sunday of each month. The group also provides music for parish events throughout the year including Confirmation, the Clarksville Picnic and the CYM Italian Dinner.

Hymnal Sponsorship - A hymnal sponsorship includes dedication plates for a set of two books found in the pew racks in the main church — Worship, Fourth Edition and Gather, Third Edition. These most recent editions from GIA Publishing combine to provide a versatile selection of well-loved hymnody and inspired new music. Sponsorship for a two-hymnal set is $50. Sing in the Summer - Sing in the Summer at St. Louis began in 2010 and is a 5-day intensive choral program for elementary through high school students with an interest in joining the Treble Choir.
